WOD 2: LEFT ON BASE

7:00 Ladder

Squat Clean + Thruster + Shoulder-to-Overhead (55-65-75…)

All Athletes will be staged behind the start line. At 3, 2, 1, Go, the first athlete will enter the workout area and begin their first attempt at the complex while the second and third athletes rest. Barbell must start empty.  Teams will be provided the following plates: 4 x 45lb, 2 x 25lb, 2 x 15lb, 2 x 10lb, 2 x 5lb, 2 x 2.5lb and Oso clips. Athletes who are not attempting a lift may help load the barbell.  Smallest plates must be on the outside of the barbell (5lb and 2.5lb).  The barbell must be loaded with the proper weight for each attempt of the ladder.  Once the barbell is loaded with the proper weight, the first athlete will make their first attempt at the weight. The second and third athlete will follow suite at the same weight. Once all three athletes have completed the lift at the first weight, they will add the required 10-pound increase to the bar. Athletes will continue this process until the 7:00 has elapsed.  They must remain inside the lifting square at all times for the lift to count.

If an athlete cannot complete a required weight, then they must stop lifting, but can continue help loading the barbell.  Teams can continuing increasing weight in 10-pound increments as long as there is time on the clock. Athletes may attempt the same weight multiple times, but they cannot lower the weight to reattempt a lift. All lifts must be completed within the time frame. The team score is the sum of the heaviest lifts completed by each athlete.

Movement Standards:

SQUAT CLEAN: The barbell begins on the ground and must be lifted to the shoulder in one motion. The athlete must pass through the bottom of the squat where the crease of the hip clearly breaks the horizontal plane of the knee with the bar in a front rack position. The barbell must come to the shoulders in one motion, with the hips and knees fully extended, the feet in line, and the barbell clearly over or slightly behind the center of the athlete’s body at the end of the movement. A power clean or split clean to front squat is not allowed.

THRUSTER: The barbell begins in the front rack after the squat clean is completed.  This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of a front squat to full lockout overhead. The hip crease must clearly pass below the top of the knees in the bottom position. The barbell must come to a full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, feet in line and the bar directly over the body.  Once the athlete hits the bottom of the squat, there can be no re-bend of the knees and/or hips, and the feet must remain stationary. Any descent of the barbell, after upward movement in the thruster has begun, constitutes a no-lift. Any stepping, splitting, repositioning of the feet, re-bending the hips or knees or jerking during an attempt all constitutes a no-lift. Going up on the toes and slight movement of the feet to settle the bar overhead is permitted.

SHOULDER-TO-OVERHEAD: The barbell begins in the front rack after thruster in completed.  The barbell must be taken overhead. Shoulder press, push-press, push-jerk, and split-jerk will all be permitted. If the athlete split jerks, their feet must come back in-line with each other and under the athlete’s body prior to lowering the barbell. The barbell must come to a full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the body.  Press outs will be accepted.

Scoring:

There is one score for this event. Teams in each division will be ranked based on the sum of the heaviest lifts for all three athletes combined.
